Joy is a 27-year-old single mother who was about to abandon her child when she saw the director’s first film in Seoul, and then she decided not to abandon her child. He decided to tell her story and the one of other single mothers in South Korea. Their status has not really evolved since the 1960s, and Korean mentality is the reason behind this, responsible for the majority of child abandonments. For many Koreans, a single woman with a child is living in sin.
